MAINTENANCE
Inspect all maintenance items and follow troubleshooting guide if the system is not performing as specified. If performance cannot be restored after troubleshooting, call our corporation for service.
There are five primary areas of maintenance on a NEWCEN Membrane System:

1. Air compressor
2. Oxygen analyzer(s)
3. condensate traps
4. Coalescing filters
5. Purity assurance system

Note: The hollow fiber membrane separators should never require maintenance as there are no moving parts and no internal or external adjustments possible to the separator vessels. Water will not damage the hollow fiber membrane. However liquid water in the separators will act as a barrier to permeation and result in a temporary decline in performance. Original performance may be restored once the presence of liquid water is eliminated and the membranes have dried. Drying of the hollow fibers is accomplished simply by flowing warm, dry air through the separators just as in normal operation.
Warning: Liquid oil should NEVER be permitted to enter the separators since its removal is difficult, if not impossible. The presence of liquid oil in the hollow fibers will result in a permanent decline in nitrogen production capacity.

Air Compressor
Maintenance of oil-flooded rotary compressors typically includes periodic replacement of the air inlet filter (as it becomes clogged) and oil and separator filters on a yearly basis. Compressor maintenance also requires oil top-off when necessary and oil changes on a regular basis. To ensure performance of the NEWCEN Nitrogen System and to obtain maximum compressor life, follow all compressor maintenance schedules recommended by the compressor manufacturer.

1. Shut down the NEWCEN Nitrogen System and shut off compressed air supply. Allow system to de-pressurize.
2. Unscrew the collar holding the filter bowl to head and remove the filter bowl and collar.
3. Replacement the new filter bowl.
4. Slide disposable filter sleeve down over the separator core.
5. to head using the with sleeves.
Note: It is only necessary to finger tighten the filter cartridge into position to insure the seal.
6. After making sure large O-ring in filter head is in place, reassemble filter bowl to filter head.
7. Record the date of the sleeve replacement in the system maintenance log.

Coalescing Filters
Filter element Replacement time—maintenance is recommended every six months
First filter element replacement    ――3000-4000 hours
Seconds filter element replacement ――3000-4000 hours
Third filter element replacement   ――3000-4000 hours

To replace filter elements:
1. Shutdown NEWCEN Nitrogen System and shutoff compressed air supply. Allow system to de-pressurize.
2. Unscrew filter bowl and remove. Unscrew the filter element and replace with new element using new ‘O’ ring supplied with element. Ensure that the correct element is installed on each filter.
3. Clean bowl screw threads and inspect bowl ‘O’ ting (replace if needed). Refit bowl onto filter.
4. If filter leaks after changing the elements, shutdown again and check that the bowl is tight onto filter, then recheck that bowl ‘O’ ring and threads are clean and undamaged.
5. Record the date of the filter element replacement in the maintenance log.
Condensate Traps
Condensate traps should be checked daily for proper operation to ensure that liquids are not building up in the air receiver tank or filters. Daily monitoring (visually confirm condensate draining between air gap on drain pipe) is necessary so that the filter bowls do not become full of oil and water. Condensate traps should also be cleaned of oil and debris on a six-month basis.
To repair condensate traps, refer to the DH Condensate Trap literature in Section II of this manual.

Oxygen Analyzers
The oxygen analyzer fuel cells must be replaced on a six month scheduled maintenance program.
Calibration should be done weekly and recorded in the log book.
If the Oxygen Analyzer(s) cannot be calibrated then the sensor has probably expired and should be replaced. To replace oxygen sensor:
1. Unplug the sensor cable.
2. Remove sensor by unscrewing counterclockwise. Discard sensor.
3. Install new sensor onto the sensor cap. Fully hand tighten sensor to insure a leak free seal.
4. Record the date of the sensor replacement in the Maintenance Log.
